New-Old Church Location

Friends,
I have some exciting news to share with you! And although this is more about our English speaking congregation, it will also affect the life of our RAE fellowship.

Starting from April 1, The Community Centre will be closed down and our dear Frederick and Abigail Griffith will be going for a furlough for an undefined period of time. We are being offered to take over the space and make it our church’s home. The ways this space could be beneficial for us and how it can be used for ministry are countless. The very thought of it, makes us feel excited. We could finally have all ministry activities and groups we reach out to under the same roof.
This also includes some of the Roma congregation meetings. The truth is that the space in the Roma part of town has lost the benefits that it used to give us. Our church members have already become outcasts, but they have been wearing their stigma almost like a badge of honor. Nevertheless, it has become increasingly difficult to bring new people to the church, as well as to evangelize in the community. On the other hand, it appeared relatively easy to bring them to The Community Centre, the very location we want to rent, for shoeboxes program.

While we still want to keep some of the physical presence inside of the Roma/RAE community (mostly because of the children ministry), our Roma/RAE congregation could also benefit from meeting/worshipping in a new location. Physically leaving their community, where they spend more than 90% of their time, experiencing freedom from judging, condemning stares and comments, could give them a well-needed break and a window into good things that “come to those who wait”.
Now, we are not yet 100% certain if our small church is able to close the financial construction for rent and other ministry activity related costs, especially on such a short notice, and therefore we would appreciate your help, at least for some time, until we get on our two financial feet. Please keep in mind that Montenegro (just like the rest of ex-Yugoslavia) is an extremely hard soil for the Gospel (also known as a graveyard of missions and missionaries) and that in most cases, the ministry needs and opportunities exceed the capacities of local churches. So, the truth is that Kingdom in Montenegro can only grow with joint effort of us on the field and all of you who support us faithfully, both in prayer, encouragement and financially.

Please pray for this time of transition where countless small pieces need to fall into their place, with some of the most important ones being completely outside of our control. Pray that this transition leads into the time of stability and growth.
In His service,
